Industrial Grindcore Radio History

Industrial Grindcore Radio was first started on Vancouver Island by some wanna be nerd from Ontario with no real friends and nothing better to do.

The goal was to play independent hardcore, thrash, crust punk, grindcore, mince, black metal, terror, fastcore, mincecore, blastcore, death metal, industrial and digital noisecore from all over the world .. no rules, no politics, no borders.

We've grown a quite a bit since 2005 and we continue to grow due to the support of the bands and fans of our Shoutcast Radio station.

The first server was created on a P4 converted to Linux running Ubuntu something or other .. but we decided to downgrade to some crappy old P3, seems to work fine ... amazing what you can do with an old computer.

Ubuntu is our current choice for a free and open-source operating system ... if your hard up for cash and want a computer, go to the recycling depot and get an old beater and try out Ubuntu, or any one of the the many different flavours of Linux.

Here are some links to different linux distros to get you started:

http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ <---- Great for really old machines !!!

Simply download the disk image and burn it to CD or DVD (depending on the size)

Insert the CD and boot the computer. Most are live CD's, meaning you can boot into Linux without installing it, the entire operating system boots off of the CD/DVD or even a floppy in the case of Damn Small Linux !!

I'm rambling again.
